Santa was sitting inside his parked car on a hot highway detour, taking a big gulp from a 1-liter water bottle that had been sitting on his dashboard for two days.
He made a sour face and smacked his lips.
“Oye Banta, this water tastes funny!” Santa coughed, looking closely at the warm liquid.
“It has a strange, chemical, ‘plastic-y’ taste and a weird odour.”
“But water is an absolute necessity when traveling, so I’ll just swallow it anyway.”
“A little plastic flavour never hurt a strong man!”
Banta reached across the passenger seat, took the brittle, warm bottle from Santa’s hand, and squeezed it.
The plastic crunched effortlessly, showing micro-cracks along the ridges.
“Santa-ji, that ‘plastic-y’ taste isn’t an flavour; it’s the taste of your body’s hormone system being actively sabotaged by phthalates and endocrine disruptors!” Banta said, throwing the bottle into a recycling bin.
“Endocrine sabotage?”
“Banta, don’t use these heavy dictionary words on a thirsty driver!”
“It’s just warm water!” Santa pouted.
“The warmth is exactly what unlocked the toxins, Santa!” Banta explained.
“Under the intense heat of a closed car or dashboard display, the migration of phthalates – the plasticizers used to make the bottle flexible – increases exponentially.”
“These chemicals are notorious endocrine disruptors.”
“These mimic your body’s natural hormones, interfering with reproductive systems, causing developmental issues, and increasing long-term cancer risks!”
“When the water starts tasting like a factory conveyor belt, it means the bottle integrity has degraded.”
“The seal is weakening, the plastic is becoming brittle, and microbial contamination can slip right in.”
“If you keep drinking from these distressed, dashboard-heated bottles during your travels, you are accumulating invisible cellular stress over time.”
“Stop treating single-use plastic like an unbreakable thermos, Santa!”
Santa wiped his mouth, looking at his warped dashboard.
“Oye… so that bad taste was actually a warning alarm from the molecules?”
“Exactly, Santa-ji,” Banta smiled, handing him an insulated copper flask.
“When the plastic speaks to you through a bad taste, it’s time to stop drinking and switch to a safer material.”
