For the safety of your family, and dear ones, and to reduce their fire risk read, and act on the following:
- Get welding/ cutting jobs done under strict supervision.
- Don’t use halogen lamps near curtains, or other combustibles.
- Don’t hang tapestries from walls, or ceilings.
- Keep space heaters away from combustible materials.
- Keep matches and lighters in elevated spaces, and out of reach of children.
- Place candles on sturdy holders, and surfaces.
- Don’t use candles if you don’t have to. Instead, opt for flashlights, or battery-operated candles in place of wax candles.
- Don’t burn candles to the bottom. Stop burning them a few inches from the bottom for votive candles, and half an inch from the bottom for candles in containers.
- During Diwali season, do not keep any combustibles in the balconies.
- Do not dry clothes in the balconies, or outside the building line. Flying crackers could cause serious fires.
- Do not race with fire fighting, or any other emergency vehicle, and give them way to reach faster to the scene of accident.
- Do not crowd the fire accident site as it may hamper fire fighting and rescue operations.
- Extinguish any unattended fire immediately.
