Santa was standing outside his old ancestral brick-and-mortar home in a remote mountain village, holding a large bucket of bright yellow lime wash.
He was painting over a series of long, structural zigzag cracks that had opened up in the unreinforced masonry walls during a small, minor tremor last month.
“Look at this instant structural remediation, Banta!” Santa laughed, brushing the yellow paint over a deep structural fracture.
“The cracks are completely hidden, the house looks brand new, and I didn’t have to spend thousands of rupees on expensive city engineers or demolition crews!”

Banta walked up the stone path, accompanied by a local rural mason who carried a bundle of flexible steel rebar meshes, long through-stones, and a drill machine.
Banta poked the painted crack with the tip of his trowel, causing a chunk of loose mortar to fall straight into Santa’s paint bucket.

Santa pouted, protecting his bucket.
